Sony NW-MS70D Network Walkman
How much space does 11 hours of music take
up? If it's stored on the NW-MS70D's embedded memory, not much! This amazingly
small player comes with Sony's SonicStage™ music management software, which
provides easy transfer of MP3, WMA, ATRAC3™, and WAV files from your USB-capable
computer. (Audio is played back in ATRAC3 or ATRAC3plus™ format.) And since the
MS70D has no moving parts, your music never skips. This Walkman's perfect for
active listening!
Plus, SonicStage is now compatible with the widely-used RealOne™ application; if
you've already got RealOne, you can keep using it! The Walkman's backlit LCD
lets you choose to view the track number, title, artist, or any of several other
parameters. Need more storage capacity? Just add an optional MagicGate™ Memory
Stick® Duo (available from Sony). Plus, you'll enjoy up to 33 hours of tunes
from one charge of the built-in rechargeable. When it's time to power up the
battery again, just slip the player onto the combination USB cradle/charging
stand.
The player and SonicStage software support SDMI, a copyright protection system
for digitally transferred music. You'll have access to a broadening range of
music from major-label artists on the Web, as well as all the free MP3 content
currently available.

Features
Recording Overview: This Network Walkman comes with Sony's SonicStage music
management software, which provides easy transfer of MP3, WMA, ATRAC3, and WAV
files from your USB-capable computer. The MP3, WMA, and WAV files are converted
to ATRAC3 before they are transferred to the Network Walkman.
256MB Built-in Memory: The 256MB built-in memory provides over 11 hours of
recording time when the music is recorded at 48 kbps.
MagicGate Memory Stick Duo Slot: The expansion slot allows you to take along
additional music on an optional MagicGate Memory Stick Duo.
Skip-proof Design: Since the Network Walkman has no moving parts, it will
provide you with uninterrupted playback, even during intense activity.
Backlit LCD: Backlighting makes it easy to view the display in low light
situations. The unit may be set to backlight the display for three seconds after
each operation, or battery power can be conserved by deactivating the backlight
function.
Group Function: This function allows you to categorize consecutive tracks into a
group for playback, recording, or editing. This is handy if you are recording
multiple artists or CDs onto the Network Walkman.
Playback Mode: You can choose to play files in any of the following ways:
All Repeat: all tracks are played repeatedly
1 Repeat: the current track is played repeatedly
Shuffle Repeat: all tracks are played repeatedly in random order
Group Repeat: the current group is played repeatedly
Group Shuffle Repeat: all groups are played repeatedly in random order
Digital Sound Preset: You can adjust the treble and bass to suit your taste. The
player can store two sets of treble and bass adjustments that can then be
selected later during playback.
Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS): The AVLS function keeps down the maximum
volume to protect your hearing.
Erasing Songs: You can erase a song stored in the built-in flash memory or
Memory Stick Duo by track or group. If songs are erased, the SonicStage software
recognizes them as songs to be checked in when the Network Walkman is connected
to the computer that you used for checking the songs out.
"Easy Skip" Group/Folder Function: This function allows for easy navigation
between multiple file folders transferred in a playlist.
Built-in Battery: This unit has a built-in rechargeable Ni-MH battery.
Storage Function: In addition to music files, you can store other data on the
Network Walkman from your computer's hard drive.
Supplied Software
SonicStage: SonicStage is an integrated software application that lets you enjoy
music. Not only can you play back songs from audio sources, such as audio CDs or
MDs, you can also import songs to your computer's hard drive and organize them
as audio files. Furthermore, the imported songs (audio files) can be transferred
to portable devices, such as a Network Walkman or Net MD Walkman. You can also
write songs to CD-R or CD-RW discs to create your own original audio CDs.
Music Drive: Music Drive is SonicStage's Music Database. Music Drive is used to
integrate and manage all of the audio files on a computer. Audio files can be
imported to the Music Drive from various sources by performing the following
operations: recording songs from an audio CD, importing audio files stored on
the computer, and downloading audio files from an EMD service on the Internet.
Information such as artist name, song title or jacket image can be attached to
the audio track stored in the Music Drive. You can manage songs (audio files) by
this information and also categorize songs using the playlist feature.
Additionally, you can find a specific song by using various search criteria.
OpenMG: OpenMG is a copyright protection technology used when importing and
managing audio content from music distribution services or audio CDs. By using
OpenMG compliant applications such as SonicStage, audio content can be encrypted
before being stored on the hard disk of a computer so that the audio file cannot
be played back on any computer other than the one it was created on. OpenMG is
useful in preventing unauthorized distribution of audio content via the
Internet.
RealOne Player Compatible: RealOne is a free music management system that lets
you download, create playlists and transfer music to your Network Walkman. Sonic
Stage is compatible with RealOne.
